NEWCOMER ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Newcomer Advisory Council, which is our immigrant advisory table, supports Prairie Skies Integration Network and its communities in the work of becoming increasingly inclusive and welcoming towards newcomers. The NAC is Prairie Skies’ advisory body made up of several newcomers, bringing a wealth of different backgrounds and experiences with them. These experienced advisors provide input on the delivery of services, programs, and strategies.

Abdullateef AlabiNewcomer Advisory Council
Abdul is originally from Nigeria. He relocated to Canada about 8 years ago and is now a Canadian citizen. He has been of great help to many new immigrants by providing support and guidance. He is a Fellow Institute of Cost and Management Accountant and Fellow Institute of International Accountant, Nigeria to date. He worked in one of the largest mining companies in Africa for 14 years before coming to Canada. He now works in the financial sector as a sales specialist.
He has been involved in various community activities and with various organizations:
- Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF)
- Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-oriented Research (SCPOR) – Patient/Family Advisory
- 2017 Canada Day event by the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council
- He is presently a member of Prairie Skies’ Immigration Advisory Table
Paulin ApipilaNewcomer Advisory Council
Paulin came to Canada on the 25th of November 2014 with his wife and two daughters. His home country is the Democratic Republic of Congo, but he came from South Africa (Cape Town), where he had been living for more than ten years. Paulin worked in different companies in South Africa.
His most recent position there was in tourism and hospitality, as Guides Coordinator and Operation Management for the entire province of the Western Cape. He also had a chance to volunteer with some NGOs in South Africa where, as Information Advisor, he assisted new refugees arriving in the country by providing them with information about their rights and obligations as refugees in the land. He currently holds various positions including
– Vice chair on the board of Conseil Economique et Coopératif de Saskatchewan (French Organization)
– Vice-chair of Association Communataire Fransaskoise de Moosejaw (French Association in Moose Jaw)
– African Community leader in Saskatchewan
Paulin is an open-minded and dynamic person, who likes to take part in community work to address challenges in the community.
Ololade (Lola) KassimNewcomer Advisory Council
Ololade Kassim is a Nigerian who relocated to Canada in 2018 with her family. She is passionate about helping others attain their goals, providing support and assistance for new immigrants, and creating impact. She is an experienced Change and Project Manager, Business Analyst and Business Process Specialist who is currently working in the information technology sector as a Senior IT Supervisor & Analyst.
In 2018, she authored her first book; What Lies Beneath Adorable and was a Guest Presenter at Nigeria’s PMI Annual Conference.
She has been involved in various community works locally and internationally. At the International Dinner hosted by the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council in 2018, she did her first book reading. In 2019 she volunteered with Prairie Skies Integration Network as an Assistant Project Manager working on Service Maps, and with Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Moose Jaw during their Career Fair.
She is presently the Secretary of Prairie Skies’ Newcomer Advisory Council.
